If you’re like me you want to learn a new language but are tired of gamified apps that teach you useless sentences.

It was always my goal to learn German to the level that I could read the news and watch TV and movies.

I felt once the content was actually interesting and relevant it would be more fun and easier to increase the amount of time I spent practicing.

Unfortunately, this starts to become possible around the B1 level which takes around 200–400 hours of instruction.

Said another way, if you practice for 90 min a week it would take you over 5 years to get to this level!

I didn’t want to wait that long so I decided to build Terrace.

It’s a news app with real news stories that are written and edited by native speakers to your language learning level.

You can tap to translate any word you don’t know and then use our built-in flashcards feature to practice this new vocabulary.
